PALAZZO MADAMA

WHERE


 

It is in the centre of Castello Square.

WHEN


In the Roman Age it is Porta Decumana of Augusta Taurinorum.

In the Middle Age it is a Castle.

In 1637 it is a Royale Palace.

 

HOW

 

Filippo Juvarra, in 1718 designs the white façades of the Palace where you can see nine big windows, three doors, four very big columns and a lot of statues and vases.

Inside, there are two beautiful stairs and, on the first floor, there is a big room used for temporary exhibitions.

 

CURIOSITY


This building is called Madama because it was Madama Maria Cristina’s home.

Nowadays there is the reconstruction of the first Italian Senate
